In the spring of 2006, the Executive Board approved the formation of the Injury Education & Prevention Special Interest Group. The purpose of this SIG is to provide its members with a forum to explore and discuss the current issues related to pediatric injury and injury prevention; to represent NAPNAP at various national injury prevention meetings; and to act as a consulting group to members and the national NAPNAP office regarding information on unintentional injuries, and tactics to prevent these injuries from occurring.

The IEP SIG will provide expertise for projects such as the development of Position Statements or tools for anticipatory guidance, and other educational materials; offer advice on pending legislation, and work with legislators; act as Task Force members and/or serve as liaisons to other organizations.

As an IEP SIG member, expect to receive communications via our listserver and participate in our discussion forums.  You'll also access a directory of members and receive a minimum of two newsletters a year. The newsletters will include current resource and research information to educate pediatric nurse practitioners and the public about the effects of injury prevention strategies on the health and development of children.  The dues are currently $20.00 per year.

For more information abou the Injury, Education and Prevention special Interest Group, please contact Chairperson Bonnie Lovette, MS, RN, PNP at blovette@mail.cho.org.
