Advocacy - Participated in monthly Health Policy Committee meetings
- Initiated press release regarding “Eli Stone” program which presented inaccurate information regarding immunizations
- Drafted letter to American Association of Colleges of Nursing CN regarding lack of language in the 4th draft of The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice regarding the need for the BSN nurse to have pediatric specific content.
- Participated in collaborative meeting with the American Academy of Pediatrics (January 2008)
- Developed the NAPNAP Fly In pilot project to coincide with the 2008 NIWI Advocacy Day
- Continue daily communication with the Washington Representatives, Arent Fox, regarding current legislation
- Continue to distribute the quarterly Inside the Beltway newsletter to NAPNAP members
- Developed a Weekly HP E-news for Executive Board Members, Chapter Presidents and Chapter Legislative Chairs
- Initiated Call to Action regarding SCHIP encouraging members of congress to override the President’s veto
- Provided testimony to the FDA on Over the Counter Cough and Cold Medications
- Developed “Talking Points” on SCHIP, the PNP Role, Nurse Reinvestment, Obesity and Medical Home
- Created a new Advocacy Tool Kit for NAPNAP Members
- Requested the American Medical Association (AMA) withdraw three resolutions being considered the AMA House of Delegates regarding the DNP, Title Protection and the AMA Model Agreement for APRNs
